What's In The Starbucks Citrus Green Tea Latte?

The best post-Valentine's Day gift of all came from Starbucks in the form of two new speciality drinks: The Smoked Butterscotch Latte, which sounds perfect for current cuddle-weather on the Eaast Coast, and the Teavana Citrus Green Tea Latte, which feels more appropriate for the sunny skies and current highs of 80 here in Southern California. But what's in the Starbucks Teavana Citrus Green Tea Latte? You know you want it, so let's take a closer look at this creamy, yet refreshing beverage.

Before we get to the delicious breakdown of this new treat, though, it's important to know some details. The drink, along with its butterscotch counterpart, will be available in all U.S. and Canada stores starting Feb. 16, meaning your sugar rush from Valentine's Day (or Galentine's Day, if that's how you roll) candies will have died down well before it's time to get your citrus-y, green tea-flavored game on. You'll only be able to get them for a limited time, though: As of right now, these two drinks aren't permanent menu items, meaning that the 'Bux plans to take them off the menu around the end of March, or until supplies last. However, if you live in the Seattle area, you'll be able to get the Smoked Butterscotch Latte for longer — it's part of the core menu at the Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room there.

So! Let's take a look at what's actually in this new green tea treat:

1. Green Tea

I'm sure you had figured this drink contains green tea, since the name of the beverage doesn't make that particular fact a secret, but did you know that it's shade-grown, micro-ground, full leaf green tea? Fancy.

2. Citrus Mint Syrup

Expect to find some minty hints in this perfect spring drink.

3. Steamed Milk

Milk in its very best form, whether you like it from a cow or from a coconut.

4. Lemon

Because yum.

5. Caffeine

There are 55mg of caffeine in a standard Tall, 12-ounce Teavana Citrus Green Tea Latte — not as much as the Smoked Butterscotch Latte, which has 75mg, but enough all the same.

Valentine's Day may be over, but doesn't mean you can't treat yourself!
