Zendaya's Hair At The Grammys Might Be A Statement

Ever since that now infamous Oscars carpet in 2015, Zendaya Coleman has been a source of inspiration for anyone who's ever felt ostracized by mainstream fashion media. After days of daydreaming about what Zendaya at the 2016 Grammys might look like, I can finally say that I only hope that the likes of Fashion Police will stay far, far away from touching her unapologetic hairstyle and overall look. I mean, what could Giuliana Rancic possibly have to say about the 19-year-old tonight? Sporting a black suit that looks straight out of the 1920s and the ultimate white guy haircut (a highlighted bowl cut of sorts with a mullet in the back), she's looking 100 percent ready for the occasion: Elegant, comfortable in her skin, and perhaps even making a statement against the time Rancic criticized her dreadlocks and commented that they must smell like pachouli or weed.

The actor, singer, dancer, model extraordinaire is known for sticking to slightly classic, slightly Old Hollywood-esque designs on the carpets of some of these glammier events. As a vintage lover myself, that's precisely why she's always on my red carpet radar. I know from experience that trying to blend a vintage silhouette with any kind of modern flare in order to preserve a sense of youthfulness is tough. But in this suit, she's going above and beyond. She's challenging gender norms, breaking red carpet style rules, rocking a hairstyle that no other person would likely be bold enough to sport, seemingly channeling the late and indisputably great David Bowie, and just... being a rad human all around.

Twitter might be confused about her mane, but I'm loving it. Whether she's commenting on racial stereotyping, throwing some shade at the Oscars 2015 debacle, commemorating Bowie, or simply digging an unconventional look, she really is the epitome of badass in my book.
