Caitlin Is A Hero In Both Of 'The Flash' Earths

by Caitlyn Callegari

While last week we may have gotten caught up in the WestAllen romantic goodness of it all on The Flash (and boy, did we), this week was decidedly less heated and more, well, cool. On Earth-1, Caitlin Snow created Velocity 9 after working her science magic, which ended up being a whole lot more effective than the other speedster doses that nearly killed Jay. That was great news for both him and Central City. Meanwhile on Earth-2, Killer Frost used her evil powers for good, was a real help, considering the rag tag crew of Earth-1 and Earth-2 peeps weren't really doing too hot on the whole saving Barry thing beforehand. Simply put, everything was a damn mess until Caitlin Snow cleaned it all up.

On the Earth-1 front, not only did the Velocity 9 that Caitlin whipped up help Jay to save Central City against Geomancer, it helped save Jay... period. And that's a good thing, because the dude was dying, and this particular version of the serum helped to regenerate his cells. Speed medicine cure alls aside, Caitlin was also instrumental in fixing the breach between Earths 1 and 2 with a bit of help from Joe and a newly rejuvenated Jay. Speaking of rejuvenation, Caitlin also helped save herself in a way. She and Jay kissed, proving that there is, in fact, life after Ronnie. (Ugh, R.I.P. Ronnie).

On the Earth-2 front, who would have thought we'd have Killer Frost to thank for saving the day? Not me, that's for sure. Cisco appealed to Killer Storm's humanity, (it seems like all it takes is calling her "Caitlin" one too many times) making it clear that these Earth-2 doppelgangers have a lot more in common with their Earth-1 counterparts than they think. She freezes them an icy bridge thingy (?) to reach Zoom's cliff prison like, as Cisco put it, Queen Elsa, which got the gang to Barry and Jessie and the mystery knocking man who I have many questions about. But, we'll save that for another day.

OK, I guess Killer Frost wasn't totally infallible. Case in point, Zoom catches them and thanks her for leading them there, it appears that Killer Frost had been an Earth-2 traitor. But, I gotta say, I had more faith in her than that. Cisco's plea to Killer Frost to channel her humanity seemed to really strike a chord because despite her hesitancy, she was the reason that they all made it out of there alive. And, there is no way that Zoom isn't going to make her pay for turning him into a temporary icicle. I'm actually a bit scared for her well being. Is that normal? Should I be that concerned for a pseudo-villain?

So, what did Caitlin 1 and 2's heroics prove this episode? Well, for one that, girls most certainly do run the world(s). And, secondly, that there seems to be a deeper connection between the Earth-2 doppelgangers and their Earth-1 alter egos. Cisco tells Killer Storm that he knows her and it turns out that he really does. You know, despite existing in a different universe from her and all. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for more similarities between the doppelgangers the rest of this season of The Flash, that's for sure.
