Pornhub Launches Donation Campaign To Save Whales

While you were busy celebrating Galentine's Day on February 13th, you may have overlooked that it was also World Whale Day. Luckily, Pornhub was around to catch your oversight and dedicate three whole weeks of porn-surfing to saving the whales.

According to Pornhub Cares, the philanthropic arm of the free porn site, "Pornhub has pledged to help save the whales by donating 1 cent for every 2000 videos viewed on the site, from February 8th—29th."

Proceeds go to The Moclips Cetological Society, which is a Washington-based non-profit organization dedicated to education and conservation of whale life. The Pornhub Cares site teases visitors to "blow your load" and click a porn vid for the sake of saving "sperm whales, humpback whales...we love them all."

President of Moclips Ken Balcomb tells the Seattle Post-Intelligencer of the donation campaign:

"I thought it a fitting tribute to the charitable role of a segment of society that does not typically receive credit for its activities, or its philanthropy. Given what we have now learned about the sex lives of many species of whales, they would probably chuckle over any eyebrows raised by the humans' concern for how other people live. Humans did not invent sex."

He adds in the Pornhub press release for the campaign that there's a very good reason that connects porn to whales: "Cetaceans – whales, dolphins. and porpoises – are very sexual animals and have evolved a variety of fascinating social life histories beyond simple procreation."

At the time of publication, Pornhub has racked up about 2.85 billion "spurts"(aka page views), which translates to about $14,250 going to the whales so far. And they still have a week and a half of campaigning to go! If you would like to indulge your amateur porn-craving inner goddess for a good cause, head on over to Pornhub and make like a sexually evolved porpoise...or something.
