Oh Yes, there's a 'Thor: The Dark World' Gag Reel

by Rachel Semigran

Oh, hey world. It's Friday! You've had a long, hard week. Nose to the grindstone, et cetera. You know what you need? The silly giggle-fest that is the Thor: The Dark World gag reel. MTV dropped the exclusive preview of the Marvel gang goofing around on stage, fumbling with green screens, and breaking props left and right. And yes, there is plenty of Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth to go around. The whole thing, which promotes the February digital and DVD release of the film, is like a Halloween costume party that's thrown at one of those trampoline/gymnastics fun houses. In other words, it's a party we all wish we were attending.

The clip also exhibits just how much important hairography (major props to Natalie Portman here) happens inside the intense world of superhero filmmaking. Just how many fans were assigned to each actor's flowing locks? How much mousse is really in Hemsworth's scalp at all times? An exorbitant amount, so it seems. We also get the joy of seeing what happens when pulley systems go awry.

And what's a gag reel without actors flubbing their lines, breaking character, and corpsing all over the place. (Note to Jimmy Fallon: There's a time and a place for these things and it's in bloopers, not in every single appearance you ever made on Saturday Night Live.) We even get dance moves from of Portman, Hiddleston, and a very raunchy extra.

The President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, introduces the bloopers alongside Hiddleston and he's just absolutely tickled. And so is all of Tumblr, I imagine. And obviously, so are we. Enjoy!
