The One Candidate Palin Would Beat In 2016

by Seth Millstein

The results are in, and it looks like there is a candidate who would lose to Sarah Palin in a 2016 presidential matchup. That candidate is none other than Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, and even though he’s constitutionally ineligible for the U.S. presidency, the fun-loving folks at Public Policy Polling tested his name against Palin’s anyway, and found that Palin would crush him by a 12-point margin if the two ever faced off for the U.S. presidency. That’s good news for Palin, we suppose, and irrelevant news for Ford, who hasn’t expressed any interest in running for president and wouldn’t be able to even if he wanted, as he is in no way a “natural born” American citizen.

Ford, who was recently caught on tape babbling in a Jamaican accent at a fast food restaurant, doesn’t have very good approval ratings in the U.S., registering under 10 percent favorability with both Democrats and Republicans. That being said, 47 percent of Democrats said they’d vote for Ford over Palin, while 75 percent of Republicans said they’d prefer the former half-term governor. More than a third of all respondents said that, given the choice of Palin and Ford, they couldn’t say for sure who they’d pick.

While he won’t be running for POTUS, Ford is running for reelection as Mayor of Toronto, and there’s good reason to believe he’ll win. He was accused Wednesday of ordering a jailhouse attack on his brother-in-law in an attempt to keep him quiet about the mayor’s drug use, which is more or less par for the course for Ford.
