Jillian Dempsey Just Launched Your Dream Shadow

by Kali Borovic

The makeup artist behind Jennifer Lawrence, Kristen Stewart, and Kate Winslet's best looks just created a dream product, and it might just become a must-have in your beauty arsenal. Going out of the box and creating a whole new formula, Jillian Dempsy launched five Lid Tints (AKA cream eyeshadows) on her website If you're looking for something that stays put all day and offers just a little bit of shine, this is the eye product for you.

According to an interview with Allure, Dempsey had been mixing her own eyeshadow concoctions using different products for some time now, so it only made sense that she'd eventually make her own perfect formula. The colorful Lid Tints are a mix between a gloss and a stain, making them long-wearing and great for achieving a worn in yet still refined look. Dempsey's first five colors — Bronze, Lilac, Peach, Plum, and Smoke — are perfect for springtime and can even be worn over powder shadows for an even bolder look.

"Sometimes, powder eye shadows can make lids look crepe-y or flat," Dempsey told Allure. "You're basically merging the whole look, almost like you're messing it up, but actually you're creating a unique, glow-y eye that has dimension."

The range will be sold on Dempsey's website, which each shadow costing $28 a piece. If this one product will give me a dreamy smokey eye look then it's definitely worth the money.

Mastering a cream eyeshadow can be somewhat intimidating, but believe it or not, it's actually a lot easier than it sounds. Here are a few tips to help you become a master.

1. Blend With Your Fingers

Even if you're sticking to a makeup brush, you'll want to use your fingers to blend. According to Temptalia, the heat from your fingers will help the product blend better, making for a more even and natural look.

2. Don't Rub Too Hard

When you're tapping your finger into the pan to get some product, don't rub too hard, according to Makeup by Chelsea. If you do, you'll wind up with a whole lot of shadow that you don't need on your hand.

3. Remember To Prime

Urban Decay Primer Potion, $20, Sephora

Even though cream eyeshadow is a stickier consistency that a powder product would be, you shouldn't skip the eye primer, according to Primped.

4. Set Your Eyes

Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder, $23, Sephora

To avoid creasing on your lid, set the eye with translucent powder, PopSugar recommends, after you've applied the cream. This also makes the color last longer.

5. Spread The Love

Instead of just using the product as an eyeshadow, don't be afraid to try out the hue on the cheeks or lips as well. The cream formula is more adaptable than a powder might be.

6. Get Rid Of Oil

Cream eyeshadow won't apply well to oily skin, according to Tent Girl, so make sure you wash your face really well before applying.

7. Use Them With Powders

Don't think that just because you're using cream that you can't also use a powder. The two actually work really well together, according to Primped, especially when using the cream as a base.
