What Do The 'GOT' Season 6 Posters Mean?

by Jordana Lipsitz

HBO seems to have a sick, sick obsession with toying with my already very tempestuous emotions towards Season 6 of Game of Thrones. This time around, they've unleashed some incredibly confusing Game of Thrones Season 6 promotional posters via the show's official Twitter account. In the posters, characters from the series are featured in the mold of the House of Black and White’s Hall of Faces, taking what seems like little nap-naps. Everybody from the still-alive Arya Stark to the very-dead Joffrey Baratheon to the possibly not-dead Catelyn Stark (as played by the book series' Lady Stoneheart) are featured, eyes closed. What in the world is going on here? What does this mean for our favorite (and un-favorite) characters?

As usual, we're just going to have to wait until Season 6 begins its (most likely) cruel but also wonderful reign over our Sunday nights. But, for now, let's really break down what this poster could mean for the series and everybody involved in it. I'm hopeful for good things, but let's be real here, this is Game of Thrones, where good things happen rarely, and everybody we love dies (five years later and I'm still bitter about Ned Stark).

1. They're In The House Of Black And White’s Hall Of Faces

This fact leads me to believe that everyone is dead. Why? The Hall of Faces is the lowest level of the House of Black and White, and is chock full of the faces of the dead that the Faceless Men keep around for their own uses.

2. There's Going To Be Some Deep Philosophical Stuff Going On

What is life? What is death? This poster leads me to think we will be thinking a lot about that in the upcoming season, with people coming back from the dead left and right.

3. Worlds Are Going To Collide

Showing all these people in the exact same setting, even in the poster, kinda makes it seem like the meetings we've been waiting for are finally going to happen. I love the potential of a relationship between Jon Snow and Danaerys in whatever form it comes. I really hope they become best friends/lovers, or find out they are related and become best friends/dual rulers.

All this is just theorizing and whatnot, because we won't know what's really being hinted at with these posters until Game of Thrones begins its cruel rule over our hearts on April 24. But, until then, take a gander at the images and come up with some theories for yourself. What's the worst that can happen?
