What To Wear To A Concert In Chilly Spring

by Eliza Florendo

While it's my personal belief that when the chillier days start up, everything else shuts down, this isn't exactly true. Life doesn't stop — cocktails keep flowing, restaurants keep bustling, and the music keeps going. But how exactly do you pick outfits for spring concerts? You know, when the cold winter winds are still bustling, but you still want to look cute.

This has been the ultimate frustration in my (fashion) life: How does one look super cute and polished in the winter, when snow, wind, rain, hell — even hail — are against you. I've basically come up with a "f*ck this" winter uniform: A (close to) floor-grazing parka, my raw denim, and either Timbs, or shearling-lined boots. Top it off with my trusty wool hat, and I'm pretty much ready for any temperature to come kick my ass. Except for two weeks ago, during New York Fashion Week, when there was actually a warning not to go outside in New York City. Yep, it was a thing.

But I don't exactly feel sophisticated and polished when I'm wearing my puffer jacket and boots that have seen way, way better days. You know how there's the battle of fashion versus comfort? Well, I always choose fashion in the colder days. It doesn't have to be that way, though!

I already have a few concerts lined up next month, and I'm thinking to myself, what in the hell should I wear to not feel super yucky at this concert? But believe it or not, if there's a will, there's definitely a way.

Repeat after me: Cold doesn't mean dud. Cold doesn't mean dud. Cold doesn't mean dud. In fact, it gives you more opportunity to layer up and experiment with your wardrobe. And what's more exciting than that?
