Chrissy Teigen Slays Marchesa At The 2016 Oscars

by Marc Cuenco

With her little bundle of joy arriving soon, Chrissy Teigen's 2016 Oscars gown was sure to combine maternity style with high fashion. And boy — I mean, girl — did she deliver. Teigen walked down the red carpet in an exquisite beaded gown by Marchesa that accentuated her figure beautifully. The model and TV star also completed her Oscars look by styling her hair into a long and perfectly tousled braid.

From the floral beading, to the full sleeves, and the keyhole back, Teigen looked head-to-toe perfection. The silhouette beautifully showed off her curves while the simple mesh neckline added an elegant touch to her dress. The night before, Teigen wore a Michael Kors gown to the Weinstein Company Oscars pre-party that had a more modern aesthetic. Of course, we can't talk about Teigen without mentioning her dashing husband John Legend, who wore a classic tuxedo and his signature smile. I don't think it's possible to love this power couple even more, but then Legend later fixed his wife's train on the red carpet. Swoon.

In a gown that celebrates her maternity, I can't help but think about how the announcement that Teigen chose the gender of her baby was met with some criticism and backlash. She clapped back at her critics on Twitter, saying "I truly, truly understand not agreeing with what we have done. I just don't understand the need to be so vile and mean about it." Of course, her decision is ultimately Teigen's and her husband's business, but it did bring up an important conversation about IVF fertilization and gender.

Teigen gave a pre-red carpet preview of her dress in all it's glory on Instagram.

And a closer look at her amazing braid:

No matter where you stand on her decision, I think that we can all agree that Chrissy Teigen absolutely nailed maternity glam at the 2016 Oscars.
