Ryan & Eva Weren't Together At The Oscars

by Amanda Richards

Individually, I sometimes get overwhelmed by the hotness of both Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling. When I found out that they were a couple, my head nearly exploded. And when I thought I'd spotted them on the 2016 Oscars red carpet, well, let's just say I was beside myself with all the foxiness swirling in the ether around them.

Sadly, Gosling showed up on the red carpet, but his beautiful partner was nowhere to be found. The actor (who co-starred in the Best Picture-nominated film The Big Short) was hard to spot on the red carpet, but made his appearance once the show began to present the award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

The pair has been together since they both starred in 2011's The Place Beyond The Pines, and it's been nothing but love and being ridiculously, incomprehensibly attractive ever since. In 2014, Gosling and Mendes did a great service to the world by using their insane genetics to create a tiny human named Esmerelda, and now it seems like their love is stronger than ever.

For tonight, I had hoped that they'd both leave Esmerelda at home and arrive on the 2016 Oscars red carpet in style, but only Gosling afforded us a glimpse of his most handsome visage.

Despite the fact that they weren't together tonight, neither of them are strangers to the Hollywood red carpet scene: Gosling's first Oscars red carpet was all the way back in 2007 when he was nominated for Half Nelson. He showed up with his sister and his mom (because of course he did). And obviously Mendes manages to slay wherever she goes.

It's too bad that they didn't come together, because it means we've missed out on them for two years running. Last year, the adorable couple opted to skip the awards and go to Disneyland with their daughter instead.

Guess we'll just have to settle for this old photo until they bring their perfection back to us, hopefully sooner rather than later.
