Brie's 2016 Oscars Dress Is Pretty

Although it isn't her first big award show this season (thanks to an outstanding performance in Room), Brie Larson's 2016 Oscars dress is hard not to talk about. Larson is the favorite by far to win best actress this season, and after seeing Room, it's hard to argue any other outcome to say the least. But winner or not, the truth is that Larson's Oscars gown is unexpected for at least a few reasons. Designed by Gucci, Larson's navy gown that featured an embellished empire waistband and pleated ruffles and is one of the more understated style moments I've seen from Larson during this awards season.

While Larson's shimmery gold dress at the 2016 Golden Globes was certainly memorable and absolutely stunning, there's just something about an Oscars dress that is different — especially with this being Larson's first ever Academy Awards appearance, so it's surprising that Larson's gown isn't making more of a style statement. Perhaps Larson just wanted to keep her gown comfortable and simple for a night that is bound to be filled with a lot of anxiety about the awards itself. While Larson probably has quite a few nerves about the big night, she can rest easy about one thing — this look is a total win.

The color is gorgeous, though, you have to admit.

Such simple makeup and hair, too.

A hair and makeup win to be sure.
