Selena Gomez Has Changed Up Her Hair A Little

She nabbed a Pantene endorsement because her glossy, dark, thick, and usually straight locks are her calling card. Her strands are always so healthy, enviable, and consistent. But Selena Gomez changed up her hair at the 2016 Vanity Fair Oscar party. But it's not surprising, since the singer and actor has made some subtle tweaks to her locks this year, which we saw at the Grammys and on her March W magazine cover. What's new and different about Gomez's follicles?

Well, her hair looks lighter, with a bit of a golden cast, the end result of which is a softer brown. Since we're so used to seeing Gomez with raven-hued hair, it's certainly a refreshening change that is noticeable enough without being drastic. That's not easy to do, but of course this coif queen pulls it off.

Gomez wore her much lighter brown hair pin straight and extra shiny at the fete. She paired it with a liquid metal Louis Vuitton dress. Her hair really did pop against the silver gown. You could also see tons of angles and layers. It's quite possible that Gomez's locks were assisted with extensions, but who cares? This was such a sleek and chic look for her. She does straight 'n' shiny often. But she did so with a twist last night.

Subtle but stunning, right? You look at her locks and think, "Wait, what's different, despite looking familiar?" That is certainly evidence of a masterful color job.

Her hair was certainly lighter than we are used to.

Her hairstyle and texture matched that of her column dress. It was so sophisto.

Gomez rocked curly locks with sideswept bangs at the Grammys earlier this month. But she was also rocking that lighter, rosier hue.

She has been all about shimmering, slinky fabrics on red carpets so far this year.

Lighter or darker, her hair inspires such follicle envy. Again, it's no wonder that Pantene snapped her up to rep the brand.

Gomez has been showing off this lighter shade since the calendar turned.

But here's the usual pitch black-ness. So. Much. Shine. It does feel like the multi-hyphenate has been getting progressively lighter this year. I like that it's subtle but noticeable and it suits her. She's not trying to shock us or totally switching things up. Instead, she's making slight changes. Anything else might be too hard for her legion of dedicated Selenators to handle at once.
