Celebrity Haircuts You Wanted In 2000s

by Melodi Erdogan

Celebrity beauty looks dominated the trends back in the '00s, just like they pretty much always have. But beyond the frosty makeup and the temporary tattoos that we could all see were going nowhere, there were plenty of celebrity haircuts everyone wanted in the 2000s. From pin straight locks to punk faux-hauxs, these were the hair looks that we all envied at the start of the 21st century.

Looking back, some of these cuts are really, really bad, and some of them are still as gorgeous as can be. But back in the day every single one was coveted. These haircuts and styles are what people referenced when they sat in the salon chair, or ended up in the pages of our favorite magazines under headlines like "New Hair, New You." While some of them are definitely a little cringe-worthy in 2016, there's no denying the each of these looks helped to define the over all trend landscape of the '00s.

From Pink's pompadour to Jennifer Aniston's classic layers, here are 15 celebrity haircuts that you wanted in the 2000s. Don't be ashamed if you see one of your old looks on here, because we're all guilty of wanting to rock at least one of these!

1. Pink's Faux-Hawk

Who better to kick off this list Pink herself? Pink had some major beauty looks from the 2000s, but her cropped, voluminous faux-hawk has got to be one of the most memorable. She rocked the short hair look, and it certainly became a trend.

2. Avril Lavigne's Long & Straight Locks

You know if you were rocking baggy cargo pants and colorful studded belts, you were also rocking Avril's long pin-straight hair too.

3. Britney Spears' Wavy Bangs

Before she shaved her head in 2007, Britney Spears was without a doubt a #hairgoals goddess. Her golden locks were always styled in pretty and soft ways, just like in this pic from 2001. Who am I kidding? You'll always be a hair goddess to me, Britney!

4. Heidi Klum's Shoulder-Length Cut

Heidi Klum is so gorgeous, I'm convinced she could do nothing to her hair and still look stunning. That being said, she always had fabulous cuts, just like this long, angular bob. Very chic, yet very glam. Heidi, you know your hair stuff.

5. Jennifer Aniston's Long Layers

I don't have to really explain Jennifer Aniston's hair, do I? Her mane pretty much defined the whole 10-year span that Friends was on air. For that reason alone, her gorgeous layered locks are an obvious choice for this list.

6. Sarah Jessica Parker's Messy Waves

To be completely honest, this is a hair cut I would still get today. Sarah Jessica Parker's messy 'do is undone yet so put together. While this look is from the late 2000s, I bet it will continue to be a popular cut in years to come.

7. Beyonce's Curly Bangs

Beyonce's hair always make a statement, and this curly banged look is now exception. This definitely go-to back then.

8. Winona Ryder's Choppy Bob

If there's any hair 'do that is very obviously from the 2000s, it's this one. No hard feelings, Winona, but your choppy, feathered bob is just simply outdated. But hey, at least it was popular back then!

9. Anne Hathaway's Medium Layers

Anne Hathaway's dark tresses looked gorgeous in medium-length tousled waves. In fact, I remember going to the salon myself with Hathaway's hair as inspiration when I was younger. It's very The Devil Wears Prada off-duty, no?

10. Naomi Campbell's Blunt Bangs

I'm pretty sure Naomi Campbell could werk any kind of hairstyle, but her blunt bangs from the 2000s was especially gorgeous. This look may be from the last decade, but I'm convinced it could stand the test of time.

11. Jessica Simpson's Permed Layers

If you thought perms were so '80s, think again. Jessica Simpson rocked the look in the early '00s, making tight curls and big hair a thing again.

12. Rihanna's Streaked Bob

Back during Rihanna's "Umbrella" days she rocked a cropped, angular bob which some platinum streaks throughout. There's no doubt she was a big reason why short hair blew up in the mid to late 2000s.

13. Gwen Stefani's '60s Inspired 'Do

OK, yes, Gwen Stefani's heavy bangs and medium-length crop are '60s inspired. But that doesn't mean this look didn't start a trend in the 2000s as well. Stefani's beauty has always been statement-making and eclectic, and her love of old timey styles is well known to this day.

14. Natalie Portman's Wispy Bangs

Another popular style of bang was the wispy kind, which Natalie Portman rocked in 2004 and looked darling. While I don't think it would be as cute today, I definitely remember wispy bangs being a popular trend among millennials.

15. Mischa Barton's Beachy Lob

The lob was huge in the early to mid 2000s, when stars like Mischa Barton rocked the look with beachy waves. The cut is easy to maintain yet still allows for styling. Really though, what more could you ask for?

While not all of these 2000s haircuts are something we'd ask for today, there were certainly all the rage back then. And who knows, they may just become popular again. Like they say, trends always come back in style!
