Cameron Diaz Is Officially a Triple Threat

by Mary Avant

She may have taken a brief step away from the spotlight for a few years, but actress Cameron Diaz is coming back into the public eye with a bang — first publishing her new book, The Body Book , and now trying her hand at shoe design with a line of footwear for luxury brand Pour La Victoire.

The collection — which debuts this fall — is more pared down, refined, and free of “too many bells and whistles” (Diaz’s words) that the typical Pour La Victoire lineup is known for. Helping create a collection full of neutral-colored heeled boots (both short and tall) and city-chic cutout booties, Diaz also assisted with the development of the brand’s handbag collection, which retails between $250 and $500.

In an exclusive interview with Women’s Wear Daily’s Footwear News, Diaz said:

It’s a tremendous amount of work. Of course, I knew it would be a lot of work because everything we do at this level requires attention to detail — in getting product taken from beginning to end.

It’s also been a business that Diaz says moves extremely quickly — even more quickly than the movie industry. In the same interview, she told Footwear News:

In fashion, you have pre-fall, fall, holiday. You have all these little mini collections that you have to do. I can’t keep track of it. It’s literally not my language. But I’m trying to learn it. They are teaching me and I’m learning from them, and they are learning from me.

With self-proclaimed strengths in branding, marketing, and an inherent understanding of the consumer, Diaz told Footwear News that she can help Pour La Victoire’s customers represent the women they want to be, as well as help the footwear company create a more clearly defined brand. And she isn't stopping with just one collection: In fact, since last summer, Diaz has taken up the role of artistic director at parent company PLV Studio, a position that she’ll hold for two years.

The 41-year-old Diaz has really come into her own over the last several months, embracing the beauty of aging and developing a true love for her body (and her pubic hair, too). And in her recently released health and beauty tome, The Body Book: The Law of Hunger, the Science of Strength, and Other Ways to Love Your Amazing Body, Diaz is stopping at no lengths to share her life, nutrition, and beauty advice with everyday women to help them find this same love for their bodies.

Her burgeoning self-confidence is even giving the star — who is currently filming roles in The Other Women and the upcoming Annie adaptation — the guts to go makeup-free on Instagram. So maybe we should get into body-book writing and shoe designing, too, right?
