Watch 'Macbeth' Featurette With Michael Fassbender

by Anna Klassen

"She was just really good, so I was like, 'I gotta keep up here!'" says Academy Award nominee Michael Fassbender of working with on-screen wife Marion Cotillard in 2015's Macbeth . The actor is known for her work in The Dark Knight Rises , Inception, and La Vie en Rose, but she showed another side of her abilities with the Shakespearian remake. As co-star Fassbender says in the exclusive clip below, she was equally "fragile and rigid in the same moment."

For the uninitiated, Macbeth was originally written sometime between 1599 and 1606, and since then, has been performed on stage and on screen countless times. The story follows Macbeth (Fassbender), a Duke of Scotland who believes he sees a prophecy that will change the course of his life forever. In the alleged prophecy, three witches come to the Duke and tell him he will become the King of Scotland. Because he believes it to be true, he takes matters into his own hands, and, motivated by his wife Lady Macbeth (Cotillard), murders the current King of Scotland and takes the throne as his own.

Directed by Justin Kurzel, Macbeth arrives on Blu-ray and DVD, and Digital HD and On Demand on March 8. Watch the exclusive clip below:
