With the temperatures swinging towards the not-so-hellish end of the spectrum, spring fever is surely around the bend. Soon the windows will open, the birds will chirp, the brunch spots will swarm and our hearts will open again. The New Yorkers among us will be in Daisy Dukes and crop tops the moment the temperature rises above 64 degrees. After a miserable winter, we can't wait to get outside and soak up some sun.

The only problem is that we tend to forget about how wet and rainy and miserable the first few weeks of spring can be. The torrential downpours, the misting, the humidity, the puddles, the flooding, the mud. One second we're in a perfect sundress skipping around in gladiator sandals, feeling free and untouchable, the next second we're running inside because literally nothing about us is waterproof and if we stay out for one second longer we'll literally melt. We're walking risks of major water damage. Our hair, our make up our clothes, our electronics, our footwear — everything can get ruined in the rain. Which is exactly why I've made a list of the 10 things every savvy girl needs to prepare for spring, without jeopardizing personal style.

Poncho

If you're wearing a cute outfit and it's warm enough to go without a jacket, opt for a poncho, it will keep your outfit dry and you can roll it up into a ball when you get inside and not have to worry about luging a jacket around that might crimp your style.

Showerproof Poncho , $44.95, Joules

Umbrella

Is it me or do most umbrellas look like they were designed for a child or someone really boring? This Brolly Black Bee printed umbrella will stand out in the umbrella rack, but look sophisticated on the streets.

Brolly Black Bee Printed Umbrella, $37.95, Joules

Backpack

It's a little bit '90s, it's a little bit Jetsons, it's totally waterproof.

Eastsport Clear Backpack , $11.99, Eastsport

Eyeliner

This eyeliner is hard to scrub off, which is exactly what you want when you're looking for a staple rain-proof liner.

Mascara

A lot of mascaras say they're waterproof, but when you come in after getting caught in the rain and catch your reflection, you still look like a raccoon. People swear by Xtavia.

XTAVA Define Lashes Volumizing Waterproof Mascara , $12.99, Amazon

Watch

Not all waterproof watches are crazy expensive or super childish. There's a happy medium, and that's this Breo waterproof watch. It's a perfect mix of sporty and chic and won't break the bank.

Aspect Watch, $53.02, Breo

Coffee Cup

If you don't have a reusable cup, you should get one. It's both green and cost effective. Don't let the rain soak your paper coffee cup, carry this baby around and reuse it throughout the day.

Reusable Carry Cup With Lid, $3.99, H&M

Booties

Don't downgrade your outfit with a pair of rain boots. Get yourself some waterproof, faux leather booties that will hold up and keep your ankles out of the puddles.

Ankle Boots, $49.99, H&M

Phone Case

If the stress of texting in the rain is too much, get yourself a heavy duty cover that you can keep on throughout the summer. Though I wouldn't recommend it, you could text in a hurricane and your precious phone will remain safe.

Lifeproof Nuud Waterproof iPhone Case, $90, Urban Outfitters

Speaker

Keep the party going with this super compact waterproof speaker. It comes with a sleeve to protect your phone, too. Use it in the rain or take it to the beach.

Water Resistant Speaker, $18, Urban Outfitters

Stay dry, stay savvy.
