The One Natural Way To Get The Shiniest Hair Ever

by Lindsey Rose Black

Chlorine from swimming pools and and too much sunshine can leave hair dry and brittle, but you can get that shine back easily on the cheap. I found out the one natural way to get the shiniest hair ever, and there's a good chance what you need is already in your kitchen. With only two ingredients, this is one of the the easiest DIY beauty hacks ever.

To get the details on what to do naturally for shiny hair, I reached out to ProRituals' Creative Director, Terrence Michael Renk. He tells me, "For a natural [shine boosting] remedy, try mixing apple cider vinegar and water and spraying in hair. Then [do] a quick five second rinse." Yeah, you read that right, all you need is apple cider vinegar an water for the ultimate natural shine! My usual ratio consists of two tablespoons of raw apple cider vinegar per cup of water.

But why does this natural DIY work? As explained by CoconutsAndKettleBells, "Apple cider vinegar is packed with nutrients that are great for building luscious locks, including B vitamins, vitamin C and potassium. Because it is slightly acidic, it also serves to restore the natural pH of the acid mantle. Exposure to this acidity hardens the outer layer of the hair and flattens the cuticle, resulting in hair that shines."

To try out the DIY hack, all you need beyond water are a bottle of vinegar and a spray bottle:

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar, $4.99, Amazon

Once you've got a bottle of apple cider vinegar, you will use it for countless DIY beauty tricks.

Spray Bottle

Fine Mist Spray Bottle, $4.58, Amazon

It's better to get a brand new spray bottle, since an old cleaning one could still have nasty chemicals hanging around.
