How To Copy Gigi Hadid's Quilted Eyeshadow

by Alexa Dragoumis

There's no doubt Gigi Hadid has a knack for trendsetting, but her Chanel runway look is proof that she truly can pull off anything. If you were as stunned as I was by her makeup, you're probably wondering how it could even be possible to copy Gigi Hadid's quilted eyeliner. And of course, being as fascinated as I was, I had to figure out a way to recreate it.

If you follow Chanel closely, you probably already know that everything the brand does is done with intention. The quilted eyeshadow look was actually created to represent the embossed leather of the 2.55 bag, one of Chanel's staples.

As far as pulling off the look, when trying an unconventional makeup trend like this one, the most important thing to remember is that your confidence is going to make it or break it. If you're going to go for it, wear it proud, but consider keeping your outfit simple to show off the statement you've created.

For this look, you really need to let the shadow do the talking which means no heavy eyeliner or bold lips and the more natural you can keep your hair, the better. Believe it or not, you only really need two shadows and a great mascara to re-create.

Here's how you can try it at home:

1. Prep Your Eyelids Properly

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, $20.00, Nordstrom

Because you're creating intricate designs on your eyelids, you'll need an insurance policy: a great eyeshadow primer. My absolute favorite is Urban Decay's classic primer.

2. Create a Clean Canvas

VirginN Pure Minerals Foundation, $38.00, virginnmineralmakeup.com

The number one thing you'll notice is that her skin looks absolutely flawless. But, it also doesn't look like she caked on foundation. A great natural choice is VirginN Pure Minerals foundation and flawless finish powder duo. The product melts right into the skin, hiding blemishes and freckles while still looking natural. And the flawless finish powder will take the look from even to airbrushed in no time!

3. Use Contrasting Shadows

Maybelline The Nudes Palette, $11.99, walgreens.com

To create the perfect quilt, you'll need two matte shadows: a light colored base (preferably light pink or off-white) and a dark-colored accent shadow (like black or navy blue) for the design.

4. Turn Your Old Laundry Bag Into A Stencil

Have a laundry bag lying around? You can put it to use for this look! Cut a square of the mesh fabric and use it as a stencil when applying your accent shadow!

5. Finish The Eyes With A Great Mascara

Diorshow Iconic Mascara, $29.50, N eiman Marcus

Diorshow Iconic is great for holding curl without adding unnatural volume.

6. Use A Nude Lipstick

MAC Lipstick, $17, Nordstrom

Finally, finish the look off with a beautiful pinky-nude lipstick!
