Meghan Trainor's "No" Gives You All The Feels

by Vannessa Jackson

Since Meghan Trainor entered the music scene with her hit "All About That Bass," it seems like she has had a steady stream of hits that double as anthems for women everywhere. Well, her newest single, "No," is no exception. In factor, Trainor's "No" lyrics will make you absolutely feel victorious. Her song talks about how no means no, period. It doesn't matter if it's saying no to giving someone my phone number, no to asking me to dance, or even a no I don't want to tell you information about me. It's such a hot topic for discussion today, and she sings about it in such a beautiful and, of course, catchy way.

It's refreshing that this track is an up-tempo dance song, because saying no is something that should be celebrated. It's something that all women have/will face in their lifetime, so why not stand, proud of your no, and dance it out? Trainor keeps defying odds with her music, and using her platform to really speak out about important issues. If you haven't heard the song, or didn't take a chance to really listen to the lyrics, they speak volumes. Basically, the whole song is a lyrical masterpiece, but these 11 lyrics specifically will make you feel victorious.

1. "I think it's so cute and I think it's so sweet / How you let your friends encourage you to try and talk to me."

Just because there's pressure, that doesn't mean you have to say yes. Hold your head high and say no.

2. "My name is no."

There she goes, telling it like it is from the very start.

3. "My sign is no."

Just in case you didn't hear that her name is no.

4. "My number is no."

Savage. Trainor is taking no prisoners, and it's making me feel victorious!

5. "You need to let it go."

A word to the wise: No is the end of any conversation. In the words of Meghan Trainor, "You need to let it go."

6. "All my ladies listen up/ If that boy ain't giving up/ Lick your lips and swing your hips/ Girl all you gotta say is..."

All you gotta say is no. It's that simple. No is a powerful word that should be respected.

7. "I don't need your hands all over me."

Agreed. Sometimes a girl just wants to dance for the sake of dancing.

8. "If I want a man, then I'mma get a man/ But it's never my priority"

Truer words have never been spoken.

9. "I was in my zone, before you came along."

Don't let anyone take you out of your zone.

10. "I'm feeling... Untouchable"

Yes! If you don't want to be touched, you are untouchable. Own it.

11. "Nah to the ah to the no, no, no"

In case you need a little extra motivation, just go around humming this for the rest of the day.

Thank you for this song, Meghan Trainor. It's a good reminder that all women must take note of, and really practice on a daily basis. It's all right to say no. In fact, it's more than all right; it's your right.
