Do These People Look Familiar?

by Alanna Bennett

Some would say it was only a matter of time, so here this is: Glee is going Friends . And not just by moving a whole bunch of its cast to New York to live a very Friendsian young-people lifestyle. No, we're talking more literally. Here's what Fox head Kevin Reilly said about the move, which will move the story to New York fulltime and cut out the Lima middleman:

Some [of that cast] are going to be graduating and moving; creatively, it would be ridiculous that everybody moves to New York. There will be some that will graduate and move on and they’ll arc back in when we do special episodes. They’ll always be a part of it… But for this season, there will be a graduation, several of the cast members will move on and a few others will go to New York.

Glee co-creator Brad Falchuk tweeted out an image of the cast in full Friends opening credits mode, featuring the major players in the show's fifth season New York-based second half. In other words: Artie (Kevin McHale), Blaine (Darren Criss), Rachel (Lea Michele), Sam (Chord Overstreet), Kurt (Chris Colfer), Santana (Naya Rivera), and Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) are all pictured in that famous New York fountain. Rachel's even rocking a 'do that, upon squinting, seems to be in reference to the "Rachel" hairstyle Jennifer Aniston made to iconic at the start of Friends.

And hey, what better way to start a new New York era than with tribute to Friends?
