When Is RBG's Memoir Coming Out?

by Emma Oulton

If you're anything like me, the second you saw the exciting news about Ruth Bader Ginsburg's memoir, you've all been frantically Googling "When is RBG's memoir coming out?" Well, the answer is pretty exciting: we have less than a year to wait for what's going to be the feminist read of the year. Ruth Bader Ginsburg's memoir release date is January 2017, and it will be titled My Own Words. That's right: this time next year, we'll all have finished it already, and will probably still be quoting it at each other.

My Own Words, which will be Ginsburg's first book (I'm not sure the RBG coloring book quite counts) since becoming a justice in 1993, will be published by Simon & Schuster. It's going to be a collaborative effort; parts will be written by Ginsburg herself, while others are written by her authorized biographers Mary Hartnett and Wendy W. Williams. But before you get too sad that we're not getting a whole Ruth Bader Ginsburg book, remember that championing and promoting the work of other women is a pretty feminist thing to do. It's stuff like this which is why we love Justice Ginsburg so much in the first place.

So mark your diaries for January 2017. Simon & Schuster haven't released an exact publication date just yet, so you're going to want to pencil out the whole month. I'm pretty certain "I'm reading Ruth Bader Ginsburg's book" is a totally fair excuse to miss work for a few weeks.
