Which '90s Pop Star You Are Based On Myers—Briggs

by Courtney Lindley

The '90s were (thankfully) filled with copious amounts of pop stars. What we lacked in technological advancement, we made up for in irrefutably catchy music. And what a time it was to be alive. As a person who grew up in this decade, one thing I took solace in was imaging my life as one of these pop stars. I'd usher all of my friends (i.e., my one sibling) into my room, and make him watch me sing the likes of Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears on my karaoke machine. Convinced that Aguilera and I were in complete and total harmony during "What A Girl Wants," I was certain that my life's trajectory would follow hers. I thought we were one in the same. I Christina Aguilera, and she... well, me. But then, self awareness hit me like a brick and I realized that I couldn't carry a tune to save my Furby's life.

Anyway, that didn't change the fact I still wanted to be Christina Aguilera. (I have a point, I promise.) Although there are things about my vocal range that I cannot change/lament daily, it's not far off to assume that my personality type might align with a '90s pop star. And it's not far off to assume that yours might too. That's why today, for that little preteen we all once were, I'm bringing you: Which '90s pop star you are, based on your Myers-Briggs personality type.

INTJ: Brandy

You're a planner. You're motivated by strategy, but you have an imagination. When it comes to what you can achieve, you've learned to never say never.

INTP: Aaliyah

You're a thinker. Always trying to know more. Though logic always steers your decisions, you never stop questioning things. Always dustin' yourself off and tryin' again.

ENTJ: Alanis Morisette

You're a leader and you're not afraid of breaking the mold or speaking up about something that's bothering you. You project confidence and your candor can be intimidating to others, but you express yourself outwardly anyway. In fact, you're full of dichotomies. But everything's gonna be fine, fine, fine.

ENTP: Fiona Apple

You're intellectually curious and you love a challenge. You like to stir the pot and strike the nerve of other people. If you don't, you'll become bored. And that would be criminal.

INFJ: Tori Amos

You're quiet, but an idealist, and often drawn to the precious things in life. You're soft spoken, but driven to make a positive change in the world. Your introspective nature is something people find appealing.

INFP: Britney Spears

You are fueled by your kindness as you are always trying to help others and do the right thing. You're light and fun to be around, and generally, people feel lucky just to be in your presence.

ENFJ: Vitamin C

You're inspiring, and people always want to hear what you have to say due to your passion — and your words have everlasting impact on others. For instance, if you ever penned a song about graduating, they would play it at graduation ceremonies until the world ends.

ENFP: Jewel

You're a free spirit. You don't follow any of the rules or preconceived notions about what you should and should not do. You're not into putting on airs or playing foolish games.

ISTJ: Liz Phair

You're practical and no-nonsense. When you say you're going to do something, you always follow through — because it's inevitable, it's the fact that you're going to get down to it.

ISFJ: Christina Aguilera

You defend things you care about and people you love. Ideals of equality are important to you, and you can't be held down. Nobody can hold you down!

ESTJ: Celine Dion

You have a knack for managing others, and your presence is authoritative. If you sang on a song that was eight minutes and 22 seconds long, people would probably listen to it. On repeat.

ESFJ: Jessica Simpson

You're the life of the party and you love the spotlight. You've been known to say silly things to keep the attention on you, and that might lead you to trouble sometimes — but at the end of the day, you just want to make people laugh.

ISTP: Mandy Moore

You're a master of many things and you like it that way. Pop star, actress, whatever — you're always game to do something different and usually end up excelling.

ISFP: Gwen Stefani

You have an adventurous spirit. You're an artist at heart, and though you might be more vulnerable than others, you use this to your advantage to produce great work. You're so much more than just a girl.

ESTP: Madonna

You have a zest for life and you have to be the center of attention. You live in the moment, and value actions over words. People find you magnetic and always want to be around you. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you're a ray of light.

ESFP: Mariah Carey

You're spontaneous. You get excited by little things, but people love that about you. You're a social butterfly and can make friends with anyone. In fact, people are kind of obsessed with you.

Thank me for the wish fulfillment later.
