James Franco to Create Army of James Francos

by Alicia Lutes

The Selfie King of Los Angeles has grown tired of the current crop of actorfolk/aspiring multi-hyphenates in his midst. So naturally, the only reasonable response is to open up a school of his very own, which is exactly what James Franco has done. He has teamed up with Playhouse West in North Hollywood to create his own James Franco acting school called Studio 4 at the Sherry Theater in Los Angeles.

According to the Studio 4 website, aspiring actorpeople will be instructed in the Meisner technique (Franco's favorite), both by Franco himself and several other in-house teachers. Additionally, "the students will have the opportunity to showcase their acting talents in front of James, one of the industries busiest directors and actors. Rabbit Bandini and James will cast roles directly from his classes, and will involve his students in a variety of his film and art projects." Meaning: Franco wants you to usher in the new era of the Franconation. James Franco is no longer a single entity, but a state of being, a frame of mind. Welcome to the future of Hollywood, populated by an army of James Francos. Scared yet?

It is said that Studio 4 won't simply be a one-and-done sorta shop: several advanced classes and projects that align with Franco’s creative visions will also be available — and we can only imagine what those might be. In fact, we decided to imagine them right here, right now.

While we wish we could spare the $300 a month it takes to enroll in the Franco school in the name of journalistic research, alas we are too poor. We can only hope, for everyone's sake, that this is just the beginning. It's only a matter of time before we're overrun with Mini Francos (and not just the Dave kind).
