Gal Gadot Basically Is Wonder Woman IRL

by Michelle Lulic

Have you had your doubts about the DC Comics casting of Gal Gadot for Wonder Woman? My doubts were certainly there. It was partially because I secretly wish I could be the one playing Wonder Woman, and partially because, in general, Wonder Woman is such an icon. Gal Gadot, on the other hand, is a mostly-unknown new talent taking on one of the most iconic female superheroes to date. The casting announcement was just all around terrifying. But it turns out that I may be able to put all of my initial fears aside, based on the actress' recollection of the Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice casting process. Apparently, Gal Gadot didn't know she was auditioning for Wonder Woman. Which means that Gal Gadot is literally just Wonder Woman.

In a Tuesday interview on The Ellen Degeneres Show, Gadot opened up about how she auditioned for the role of Diana Prince. How she went about getting the role may be just the proof we need to know that she is going to nail it. “I did an audition, I didn’t know what I was auditioning for. They didn't say. They said, 'It was super confidential. You're just going to read a scene with Zack Snyder," she said. When the call from Zack in regards to a screen test with Ben Affleck came, that's when the news finally broke. "I went dead for like five seconds, came back to life and tried to pull off my coolest voice saying, 'Wonder Woman...yeah, I've heard of her.'"

But that didn't even seem to throw her off. Two weeks after the screen test, she was officially offered the role. You have to see this entire adorable interview.

Basically, Gal Gadot was Diana Prince in the eyes of the Zack Snyder, the movie's producers, and casting directors. Even without doing any prior research or proper comic book knowledge preparation work for it, she nailed the part so completely that she got it. With hours of intense work-outs and more information about the character under her belt, I'm sure Gadot was more than ready for the role when she finally hit the set. It's no wonder why the actress says she feels like "the luckiest girl in the world."

We still have to wait to see this Amazonian powerhouse come to life, but set your doubts aside. I have a good feeling that on March 25, Gal Gadot is going to prove all DC Comics naysayers wrong for doubting her immense talent.
