Ben & Lauren May Defy 'Bachelor' Odds

by Molly Freeman

After whittling the contestants of Season 20 down to two (and telling the two finalists he was in love with them), this season of The Bachelor came to an end with Ben getting down on one knee and proposing to Lauren — after sending JoJo home in her limo and off to be The Bachelorette . But, will Ben and Lauren actually get married after The Bachelor ? That's the question on everyone's minds, and one of the topics on this week's installment of Bustle's Bachelor podcast.

On this episode of Will You Accept This Podcast?, Romper TV Editor Allison Piwowarski and Bustle Entertainment Editor Kelsea Stahler discuss whether Ben and Lauren have what it takes to go the distance as the latest Bachelor couple. Of course, on After The Final Rose following the season finale, Ben and Lauren revealed they're moving in together as soon as their schedules allow and, though they didn't get married during the live after show (much to Chris Harrison's dismay, I'm sure), they did get engaged — again. So, they certainly seem happy!

Still, this Bachelor couple doesn't necessarily have the stats on their side considering the number of breakups that have occurred in the wake this reality dating series. So, do Kelsea and Allison think Ben and Lauren can break the breakup curse? Well, yes and no.

Though Allison may not believe these two will last, Kelsea pointed out Ben and Lauren are evenly matched in their lowkey (what some might even call boring) personalities and are compatible enough that they have a chance of staying together long after JoJo has taken the spotlight with her season of The Bachelorette. Plus, Ben has finally found someone who proved wrong his insecurities about being unlovable, how could he possibly give that up? (Spoiler: I don't think he can.)

Of course, we'll have to wait and see whether or not Ben and Lauren stay together and actually make it down the aisle — the couple is probably still enjoying their post-Bachelor finale haze of happiness. But, the honeymoon period will come to an end eventually, and it remains to be seen if the relationship they built on The Bachelor will last. If I had to bet, though, I'd put money on Ben and Lauren sticking together.
