What Bangs Look Like On Different Face Shapes

by Emily McClure

Should you get bangs? Totally! However, before you run off to the salon, you should probably take your face shape into consideration before getting bangs. While face framing fringe usually looks good on everyone, not every style of bang will look the same on every person. Just like haircuts, there is a variety of styles to choose from. So, before you take the plunge, chat with your stylist about what style of bang would look best with your face. An easy rule of thumb is to consider your angles. Will harsh, blunt bangs overwhelm your face? Could more wispy fringe flatten the look of your hair? These are all good questions to ask yourself (and your stylist) before the haircut.

When it comes to cutting your hair, it's all about preference. If you're going for a more dramatic look, then blunt, edgy bangs are definitely for you. If you want a softer, more bohemian feel, then ask your stylist for separate, wispy strands. Either way, you're going to be left with more dimension than your than your face had before. It's an easy way to change your whole look without changing your whole life. That's the beauty of hair. So, if you're looking to change up your style, consider getting bangs. Here are how different styles of bangs look on a variety of face shapes.

1. Round

Personally, I think that those with round face shapes absolutely slay when it comes to having bangs. The hairstyle helps to frame the face giving a more dimensional appearance.

2. Square

If you're worried about your face being too angular, then soften the lines of your face by adding wispy bangs. It gives a your hairstyle a more bohemian and graceful look.

3. Diamond

If you have a diamond face shape (broad cheekbones and a narrow chin), then you're in luck! You can basically pull-off any style of bangs. Congrats!

4. Heart

Like a round face shape, blocky bangs can sometimes overwhelm a heart shaped face. Stick to wispy bangs and lighter fringe to give your face a softer appearance without losing your angles.

5. Triangle

Triangle shaped faces are usually classified as those with broader foreheads and slimmer chins. With this type of face shape, you can pull-off even the bulkiest of bangs as it won't overwhelm or absorb your the rest of your face.

6. Oval

Oval face shapes tend to be longer than others, therefore, bangs are extremely complimentary to your overall look.

To answer your question: Yes, you should definitely get bangs.
