'Hannibal' Season 2 Trailer Is Gory & Gorgeous

by Alanna Bennett

We should warn you now: This trailer for Hannibal Season 2 reveals a few things. Possibly vaguely spoilery things. But it's also frothy and glorious, so if you like Hannibal and are looking to get even more excited for that upcoming second season, we'd recommend it.

"There will be a reckoning" Will Graham's (Hugh Dancy) voice proclaims over the trailer, alongside an image very much in fitting with what this trailer's doing, and what the show's good at: Beautiful cinematography over imaged almost Old Testament in their depiction of ye olde suffering and wrath. This particular image boasts a man spread out over antlers being feasted on (or at least given the once-over) by crows.

Then we get a classical police procedural promo voiceover: "Will Graham, the FBI's top profiler, is now that FBI's top suspect." Then we're reintroduced to both Graham and to that titular Hannibal, and the former seems to be in a lot of trouble. Then again, maybe Hannibal is too, what with the line "you're the new Will Graham."

And so there is danger, and mind games, and dark but luscious imagery — what else do you expect? After all, as creator Bryan Fuller said, we'll see "a scrappier, clearer-minded Will Graham in season 2. The scales have fallen from his eyes and he finally sees Hannibal Lecter for the monster he is.”

The second season premieres March 2 on NBC.
