Rihanna Has One Regret & It's Fashion Related

by Kali Borovic

When you think about your biggest regret in life, you might remember an ex you wish you hadn't dated or some thing mean you said to a friend, but celebrities aren't like you and me. According to an interview with Vogue, Rihanna's only regret in life involves her 2014 CFDA outfit. You know the one I mean. And no, she doesn't regret wearing the see-through gown one bit. What does she wish she'd done differently? Worn a sparkly thong underneath! Say what you will about that, but she didn't win the Fashion Icon Award that year for no reason.

Rihanna has worn a lot of over-the-top styles in her day, but her see-thorough CFDA gown definitely takes the cake. In case you don't remember, this is the dress that pretty much started the "naked" trend. Covered head to toe in Swarovski crystals and not much else, Rihanna took fashion and feeling yourself to a whole new level that night. The only things covering her up were a beige thong and a fur boa. In her chat with Vogue, the April issue's cover star says that if she could go back, she'd wear different undies.

“I just liked it better without the lines underneath. Could you imagine the CFDA dress with a bra? I would slice my throat. I already wanted to, for wearing a thong that wasn’t bedazzled. That’s the only regret I have in my life.” There you have it. She doesn't regret many things, but her nude thong was one of them. I thought she looked pretty fabulous as is, but what's a little more bling in the name of fashion?

In all honesty though, how comfortable would a crystal thong actually be? Probably not very.

The world took notice of of Rihanna's outfit that night, that's for sure. Fashion designers love Rihanna not only because of her daring looks, but how true she stays to her own personal style. Here are six quotes from designers that prove Rihanna is a true style icon.

[Rihanna] has this aura, this charisma. It’s not only sexual. It’s something else. She is like a new Grace Kelly, or a Madonna… This woman of the world who represents a new world," the Balmain creative director told Telegraph UK.

2. Manolo Blahnik

“The only person I love with a tattoo is Rihanna,” he told Footwear News. “I was sitting at a table with her [at the British Fashion Awards] and was so impressed. She looks like Grace Kelly. She’s just so beautiful, so polite — she’s not the person you see in interviews.”

3. Adam Selman

Her go-to designer and the creator of her CFDA dress told Style.com (via Vogue) “She’s daring, she’s bold, and she’s not afraid of fashion. She doesn’t let fashion overcome her. She embraces it and makes everything she puts on her own. Not many people do that.”

4. Tom Ford

“She can throw on combinations you can’t imagine other people could possibly wear, and look great,” Ford told Vogue. He also had a number of good things to say about her in a post-CFDA Awards blog post.

5. Peter Dundas

The once-director of Pucci told Vogue in the same interview, “[Rihanna] is a very talented dresser, in the way that Kate Moss is. She’s an amplified version of what a lot of girls want to look like, but she’s always a step ahead of the game.”

6. Anna Wintour

"Rihanna speaks to her fans with her every look," Wintour said in her CFDA Awards introduction speech. "She proves that incredible style can help take a talented young woman from a small island to the world stage, and along the way spark a lot of conversation about elegance and empowerment."

I guess it's clear to see that people love her!
