13 Adorable Mules To Rock All Spring & Summer

by Eliza Florendo

Remember when clogs and mules were strictly worn by your grandmother, and they screamed homely to you? Well, consider that outlook officially over, as cute mules are super in style right now, taking street style by storm. And if you're part of the lucky few that have been rocking this trend since the jump, I applaud you — You were way ahead of the curve.

If you told me in high school that I would own (and covet) a pair of clogged mules, I would have laughed in your face. This was in the height of my Abercrombie & Fitch/tube top/pleated skirt/platform flip flop stage. I mean, I thought a double popped collar was ~tres chic~ and wore pink sweatpants daily. I had much to learn.

As I grow older and really look at the pieces I've saved up for and totally love, most of it has been inspired by my mother and grandmother's amazing sense of style. Menswear-inspired pieces, long maxi dresses, and high-waisted trousers are all in the mix, and clogs have become my new best friend. But even more than clogs — mules.

In the '90s and early 2000s, skinny straps were all the rage, especially when it came to sleeves and strappy shoes. So, the thought of a thick, '70s-inspired strap totally threw me off. But as we know, fashion is cyclical, and this little baby has come back in style, and better than ever.

This spring and summer season, the mule will be your new best friend. Not only are they super stylish, but they're also ultra comfy.
