Cate Blanchett Debuted A Major Hair Transformation

by Jessica Thomas

Cate Blanchett, queen of the chic red carpet look, is not necessarily the first person who comes to mind when I think of celebrities who are all about the bold hairstyle. Kylie Jenner? Sure. Hilary Duff? Absolutely. But the regal, Oscar-nominated Cate Blanchett? I wouldn't put her at the top of the list. Turns out I'm wrong, because Blanchett debuted pink hair at a recent dinner in London. That's right, the Carol actress is rocking bubblegum pink hair right now, and it definitely doesn't look like a wig.

Blanchett cut her hair into a chic bob shortly before the 2016 Oscars, and that was already a pretty big hair transformation for the actress, whose hair is almost always the same sleek, icy blonde hue. She took it one step further with this latest look, and I kind of love it. Blanchett's blonde hair was bright, and the hue of that color still shines through in her new pink hairstyle. When she was out in London, Blanchett paired her new look with pink-framed sunglasses, which were almost the exact same shade as her hair.

The look is a little out there, but it's surprising how well Blanchett pulls it off.

It looks majorly chic, right? Her hairstylist, Nicola Clarke, told The Telegraph that the dye is semipermanent and will last a few weeks depending on how often Blanchett washes her hair. Clarke also said Blanchett had wanted to dye her hair for awhile, but wanted to wait until awards season was over.

This second angle kind of shows how the color is brighter at the tips and lighter at the roots, where it's still pretty blonde, like her original 'do.

But this isn't the first time we've seen Blanchett as a non-blonde. Remember her in Queen Elizabeth?

And in Benjamin Button?

Still, it's definitely a switch from her normal sleek look.

Such a fun transformation, right?

I for one am inspired to switch up my normal hair routine and bust out of a rut just in time for spring.
