New York Fashion Week Fall 2014: 5 Standout Beauty Looks From Day Three
Perfect. Skin. Everywhere. Designers seem to be trading out heavily contoured cheeks and "is that CGI?" makeup effects on their models in favor of smooth, beautiful, natural-looking skin and one highlighted feature, like bold lips or something eye-catching on, well, the eyes. The emphasis on the clean-faced look is enough to make me think — dare I say it? — that this season's round of makeup looks are actually almost universally wearable. There's something to be said for being wildly genetically blessed, but regardless, it appears thus far that the collective mission of designers has been to make real girls look pretty and cool instead of nuts. It's the most strategic way to allow the clothes to speak for themselves.

Prabal Gurung
The focus was on sculpted cheekbones, flawlessly groomed brows, and loosely pulled back hair at Prabal. (Was it enough to draw attention from that gold-crowned streaker? Our bets are on yes, but remains to be seen.)
Altuzarra
Models at Altuzarra wore thick, pulled-back buns and shimmery, opalescent lime green shadow.
Monique Lhuillier
The look at Lhuillier was all about clear, healthy skin complemented by peachy lips and cheeks.
Alexander Wang
Wang’s long-anticipated (and much agonized-about) Brooklyn show saw models like Hanne Gaby Odiele in low, slickly side-parted ponytails and (surprise!) bare faces.
