And The Way You Actually Peel A Banana Is...

Today in things that will make you feel like your entire life has been a lie, I present the actual way to peel a banana. As in, you've been peeling bananas wrong your entire life. I know what you're thinking: Is there even a right way and a wrong way to peel a banana? Well, my friends, apparently there is a right way — and we needn't look further than monkeys to figure it out.

If you're anything like me, you probably peel your banana by awkwardly breaking its little banana neck. Unfortunately, in addition to being oddly barbaric, this all too often results in a banana that is a mushy and bruised mess. You're therefore unlikely to be surprised to find that this method is not the right way to peel a banana. It's also not the way monkeys peel a banana, so they have totally been holding out on us. Well played, monkeys. Well played.

A cursory search on YouTube will reveal that this "trick" has made the rounds before, and has been espoused by myriad bloggers and vloggers across the Internet. But seeing as how many of us still aren't aware of it, it's worth revisiting again. And again and again and again, until it finally sinks in for us all. But while my initial reaction was something along the lines of, "DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO. YOU DON'T KNOW ME," I finally caved and watched one of these eye-opening vids. I mean, I didn't want to be the only one not in the know. Besides, I eat a lot of bananas, bruh.

At this point, you're probably like, "Lady, IDGAF how many bananas you eat. What's the secret?!" So here it goes, in three easy steps brought to you by YouTuber Crazy Bananas (who's sending some mixed signals by pairing primate boxers with a bald eagle tee, if you ask me). Or if we're really being honest, brought to you by monkeys.

1. Find the Actual "Top" of Your Banana

Spoiler: It's the end opposite the stem. The one with the little brown knobby circle thing. (So technical, I know.)

2. Pinch Said Top

Once you locate the top, simply pinch it between your fingers. It will split, giving you two easy-to-grab segments.

3. Peel And Enjoy

Using the two distinct segments you got from pinching the top, peel downward and literally enjoy the fruits of your labor.
