Way to Disappoint Us, Marcus

Athletes and celebrities have been giving us attitude lately, and we’re over it. While celebs are generally adored, quite a few are keen on earning some serious backlash, like basketball star Marcus Smart.

One would hope that celebs and fans could all co-exist like normal people, but once again that was proven impossible after a college basketball game between Oklahoma State and Texas Tech ended in an altercation between a Tech fan and Oklahoma State player Marcus Smart on Saturday night.

With only 6.2 seconds on the clock Smart ended up out of bounds in an attempt to block a dunk from Tech’s Jaye Crockett. Video footage shows Smart exchanging words with the Tech fan, Jeff Orr, right before he shoves him with both hands, then pointing at Orr as he walked away. Smart told his coaches that Orr called him a racial slur, according to ABC News, and it has been revealed that Bryan Davis, a former Texas A&M player also had a run-in during a Tech game with the same fan. However, Davis later took to Twitter to denounce Smart’s actions during the game, stating, “The same guy that talked crazy to me for 4 years. Smh but you should never put your hands on a fan.”

Let’s face it, as fans, we can frequently be huge jerks and I’m in no way endorsing what Orr may have said, because if it’s true, then I’d like to give him a big F U shout out. Yet, it's easy to agree with Davis that despite the situation and regardless of the size of their fame, some celebrities like Kanye West, Shia LaBeouf, and even Smart frequently act out without regard for the consequences.

Although what Smart did was not as bad as many fan-celebrity altercations in the past, he might want to learn that even even famous folks should acknowledge there are consequences to their actions too.

So for all you celebs out there who haven’t gotten into a fight yet, please take note of Smart’s incident and these five other past disputes and please, learn something. Because whether you like it or not, when celebs act out, the whole world is watching.

Surpise! It's Kanye West

A few weeks ago, West punched a man in the face for threatening to kill Kim Kardashian for allegedly yelling racial slurs. Of course, punching someone in the face seems like a brilliant idea right? I mean it’s not like you could just call the police or something, or ask one of your bazillion bodyguards to escort the man off the premises. Look, there are a lot of crazies out there who will no doubt piss you off, but was it really worth the $250,000 he had to pay up to the victim?

West is no newbie to altercations like this one, however. Toward the end of 2013, a video of him went viral after he yelled at a fan who repeatedly asked him to take off the mask he was during his performance. Rather than ignoring the fan, who, was more than likely one of thousands in attendance screaming obscene things in general, West took the matter into his own hands, stopping the song and yelling, “Do I look like a motherfucking comedian? Don’t fucking heckle me. I’m Kanye motherfucking West.” Want proof of celebs with big egos? Look no further.

In 2012, Lohan was arrested for what seemed like the n’teenth time, after she hit a woman during an argument at a club in New York City, according to police. She was arrested and charged with third-degree assault for the attack. I’m not saying I’m surprised that this happened, but I also want to know why people feel that they have to become physical with someone just because they’re having an argument.

When Shia LaBeouf Pushed His Career Downhill

Hearing about LaBeouf’s bizarre antics like wearing a paper bag on his head on the red carpet is not all that surprising anymore, although for his sake, we wish it was. In 2011, he was pretty much pummeled at a Vancouver bar by a fan who claimed the actor had verbally threatened to pull a knife on him. In late December of 2013, LaBeouf allegedly upset a female fan who approached him at a London bar, when the woman’s boyfriend came to her defense. The altercation ended with LaBeouf being kicked out of the bar, making it his second bar fight during the same time frame he was staying in London.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey star, Teresa Giudice, found herself in the middle of a lawsuit after the Giudice and her husband allegedly beat up a Chicago police officer and his cousin while on vacation in the Dominican Republic. The officer, Adolfo Arreola, claimed that the celebrity sprayed his mother-in-law with champagne and proceeded to mock her while wiped away alcohol from her eyes. Arreola also said that his injuries from the fight consisted of a broken arm, blurred vision, cuts and bruises. Unnecessary fight with an innocent person? It certainly looks that way.

That Time Rihanna Delivered a Twitter Smackdown

Everyone knows that Twitter is the place where fans and celebrities alike go to tweet their frustrations with one another and get into fights, because it’s not like we can all act like mature adults or anything. No, that would be silly. In 2012, a fan of the singer took to the social media platform to tweet her disappointment upon hearing that Rihanna and Chris Brown would be collaborating on a song together.

Jaree Strozier tweeted, “I gotta admit, I lost alot of respect for @rihanna.. Makin a song w/the dude that beat your face off is not a good look. (sic)” Rihanna responded with, “@JuhReeV neither is your avi #clapback,” referring to the user's Twitter picture. I have to call out both the fan and Rihanna here, to be fair. Strozier continued to berate the singer with extremely nasty comments about her abuse history with Brown, which is absolutely unacceptable. However, I also don’t believe calling a fan ugly is the best way to go about things either. When celebs fight with fans on Twitter, nobody wins.

Celebrities, fans, countrymen, can't we all just get along?
