Why Rob Kardashian Really Struggles With Fame

If you're a longtime Keeping Up with the Kardashians fan like I am, there's a good chance you're as obsessed with the Scott Disick-Rob Kardashian bromance as me. For the roller coaster ride that was (and continues to be) Disick and Kourtney Kardashian's relationship, the close friendship between Disick and Rob Kardashian was chock full of funny moments. The two definitely sparred like brothers, but they always had the other's back. Disick was asked about Rob in an interview on Australia’s Kyle & Jackie O radio show, and he revealed a sad truth about Rob's involvement in the family's reality show.

Rob has retreated from the spotlight in recent years, most notably not attending sister Kim Kardashian's wedding to Kanye West in 2014, and fans and family members alike have expressed concerns about him. His absence from the show has sparked numerous storylines, showing members of the Kardashian-Jenner family struggling with how to help him find happiness. But it turns out that Rob may have had underlying issues with the reality show from the beginning, according to Disick's latest revelation.

The radio hosts asked Disick about Rob's struggles, and Disick candidly admitted, "Things are difficult sometimes, especially when you become in the spotlight very quickly overnight. Your whole life changes very quickly."

Disick explained that Rob was very young when the show first started in 2007, saying,

He was just getting out of college, and then he became famous quickly, and I think it was a lot for him to handle. I don’t think that was the path he wanted to be on, and he just got caught in the middle of it. He’s one of the greatest guys I know. He’s got a good heart, and he’s just an amazing guy all round.

But it seems like Rob is finding his own happiness now, especially thanks to a new romance with Blac Chyna, and Disick echoed this sentiment, saying, "He's doing great — he's doing actually unbelievable. He had to take some time off, and I think he was a little down-and-out, but he's doing a lot better, and I think he's very happy."

It's totally understandable if Rob had no idea what the ramifications of being famous would mean for his personal life — he was still in college in the show's first episodes, and he was 20 years old when the show first aired. Most people in their early twenties would not know how to handle fame of that magnitude at such a young age, especially if they were hesitant about it all along.

Only Rob knows his true feelings about being on the show and being famous, but either way, I hope he can make peace with it. Rob has always been a fan favorite on the show, and he has tons of supporters that want to see him happy again — even if that means he doesn't participate in KUWTK. At the end of the day, his happiness is the only thing that matters, and it seems like his family, including Disick, all want to see him succeed.
