This Woman's Voldemort-Esque Selfie Is Terrifying

by Dasha Fayvinova

In case you were sleeping regularly at night and wanted to change that, here is something that's been freaking out the Internet this week. A couple took a creepy selfie of the back of a woman's head that has everyone running for the hills. Not walking, not briskly jogging — running. Turns out you don't need a huge Hollywood-movie-sized budget and amazing PR campaigns to cause mass hysteria on the internet. All you need is a long arm and a mirror.

A couple, who, by the way, look very cute together, decided to take a selfie to preserve their cuteness. All they did was snap a picture on a sunny day, but unbeknownst to them, their actions unleashed pandemonium. You see, if you look closely at the picture of the smiling couple, the reflection of the back of the woman's head shows that of another face. A perfectly smiling face. A creepy face. Basically, we are witnessing a real-life Voldemort sighting. Maybe he had eight horcruxes after all...?

The picture started garnering attention after it was shared on Twitter, and the quest to figure out how exactly is going on commenced. Everyone wanted to know if the photo was faked, altered, or was the legit deal. I have to say, I was a little taken aback when I first saw it. It's unsettling! I don't like being scared and I sure as hell don't like to think about demonic things popping up in everyday situations. But, I also really love figuring out how things work, so I went to town. I enhanced, I snooped and I googled. I think I know what's going on, but you can judge for yourself.

Here is the photo. Pay close attention to the back of the woman's head. You see?! You see that?! That's a face staring straight back into the mirror. Creepy!! I don't know about you, but it's giving me a lot of emotions.

Reminds me of that famous scene at the end of Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone where Professor Quirrell unwraps his bandages and reveals that he is fused with the Dark Lord himself. Yeah. That's what I first think of no matter what.

After looking at the photo closely, I cannot help but think it was altered. Firstly, let's examine the hands.

The man is taking the picture with his left arm, but the reflection in the mirror shows that he is holding it with his right hand. Once that is established we can pretty much assume that the face in the reflection is also manipulated using photoshop. I cannot prove any of this for sure, but I will say that this explanation has calmed me down significantly.
