11 Times Modern Celebs Rocked '90s Styles

by Alexa Dragoumis

Fashion always has a way of repeating itself and lately, a lot of our beloved '90s trends have been making a major comeback. Everything from overalls to chokers and matching sets seem to be a dominant force on the red carpet and on the street, so before you spring clean and donate those old jeans, keep reading and check out the celebs who are rocking '90s styles today!

As far as your personal style development, looking back on old photos may make you want to cringe a little bit, but I promise some of these old trends can be revamped and turned into incredibly chic outfits. And if we're being honest, today I'd probably pair my mom jeans with something other than running sneakers that resemble my dad's. But hey... style gets better with age, right? Think about it for a second. Britney Spears-esque crop tops made a comeback and basically the only difference is that now your mom can't tell you not to wear them!

Fashion queens and BFFs Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid are just a couple examples of celebrities who make these '90s trends look sexy, effortless and enviable. Remember how they brought back bomber jackets? Well, there's a lot more where that came from!

Ready to give that box of old clothes a second look? Here's a few things celebrities suggest you might want to keep.

1. Chokers

If there's anyone who rocks this trend best, it's Jenner.

2. High Waisted Jeans

Take it from Alessandra Ambrosio, sometimes simple is best. At the Super Bowl, Ambrosio rocked a pair of Levi's with over-the-knee suede boots and a classic white tee.

3. Classic Kicks

Talk about an entirely new twist on the white sneaker trend, Gigi Hadid took a fresh approach when she wore her adidas for a night out after the Versace show. Imagine if your feet weren't killing you at the bar...what a concept!

4. Bandanas

Pia Mia Perez usually gravitates towards red bandanas, but her white ensemble totally elevates this '90s accessory to a whole new level.

5. Crop Tops

Olivia Culpo can pull off pretty much anything, but I love how she incorporated this crop top into a casual, everyday look.

6. Matching Sets

Instead of a classic plaid or solid, Hadid adds denim into the equation — turning this trend totally badass.

7. Overalls

Who ever said overalls had to be denim? Olivia Palermo makes a pretty strong case for this one-piece wonder on her casual day of shopping.

8. Birkenstocks

Birkenstocks don't have to be just brown you know... take it from Australian actress and model Ruby Rose.

9. Bomber Jackets

Victoria Justice rocked Nickolodean's Kid's Choice Awards in a bright purple bomber. Talk about an accent piece!

10. Shirts Tied Around The Waist

Take a cue from Miranda Kerr and tie your old flannel around your waist to run your yoga outfit into a day time look!

11. Carry-All Bags

OK, so maybe you've upgraded the old Jansport, but carry-all bags are totally useful and, as Cara Delevigne shows us, they can even be worn with evening wear!
