This Might Be The Coffee Of The Future

by Emma Cueto

In a lot of ways, coffee is one of the most convenient commodities in our everyday lives — you can brew it in your house, or pick it up at just about any café, coffeehouse, or fast food restaurant in America. But if getting coffee still seems like a hassle, there now exists such a thing as Go Cubes chewable coffee. As far as I can tell, they're kind of like gummy bears, except they'll give you a caffeine buzz instead of a sugar high. Oh, and they're also not shaped like bears, so do with that what you will.

Who came up with these things? Go Cubes are made by San Francisco-based company Nootrobox. The cubes are actually made from cold-drip coffee and come in three flavors: mocha, pure drip, and latte. Each cube contains about 50mg of caffeine, meaning that one of their packs of four cubes is the equivalent of about two cups of coffee.

As convenient as just grabbing a coffee is, it is admittedly even faster and easier to grab a pack of gummies than to brew or buy, and then carry around, two cups of coffee. Plus, it's less likely to spill and ruin your clothes or leave you with burns. And I suppose that coffee has become a lot more than just, you know, coffee nowadays, what with all the high-end coffee products now on the market — so as weird as chewable coffee sounds, it's maybe not as out there as you might expect.

And people seem pretty into it so far. The company sold out on Amazon Launchpad in just three days, and their customers seem to be pretty happy.

Meanwhile, the manufacturers think that chewable coffee will become a staple before you know it, and they plan to be the best in the business. "We’re just trying to take over the world so that this is an iconic logo before anyone else can follow us,” co-founder co-founder Michael Brandt told BuzzFeed.

So will these strange little guys take off? Who knows, but if you want to see what the hype is about, you can order from the Go Cubes website.
