7 Makeup Looks That Got You Grounded

You're clearly past the point of being grounded now, but let's be honest, our fashion and beauty choices got us in quite a bit of trouble when we were younger. Whether your parents were incredibly strict and forbade makeup, these makeup looks that got you grounded will surely bring back memories. Maybe it was that frosted lip you rocked in the '90s and '00s or maybe it was the Christina Aguilera eyeliner that made your parents freak. Whatever it was, there were definitely some looks that you'll always remember as the makeup styles that your parents put down before you even walked out the door.

Makeup has always seemed to be a contentious issue and not just with parents. Whether it's men and women having an opinion on how much makeup is appropriate for people to wear or at what age makeup is able to be deemed appropriate, it's always been up for discussion. The truth, however, is that makeup has always been a way to expression individuality, and while in high school, you may not have been thinking about individuality so much as your favorite celebrity, your former makeup looks are sure to inform your current beauty style. Whether you still enjoy a strong liner or an ultra glossy lip, your makeup past informs your makeup present — even if your parents didn't love it.

Definitely wasn't your natural skin tone, and really, your parents were making a good call on your behalf.

Your parents were definitely not a fan of this look that ended up with you getting gloss on basically every surface of the house.

Blues, greens, purples. You name it, your parents were against it.

To this day, I'm not sure how this became a trend, but I do remember my mother screaming at me when I over plucked by brows and tried to rock the ultra-thin look of Drew Barrymore.
