J. Crew's Fall 2014 NYFW Presentation Packs a Colorful Punch

We're used to getting re-worked classics from J.Crew, but the Fall 2014 collection delivered some really interesting alternatives to the button down/blazer combo, proving that you don't need to be dull to be professional. Inspired by 1920s and '30s Berlin, the collection featured an array of fur vests, shapely frocks, and patterned trousers. Topping those off with plenty of interesting jackets and scarves, the brand delivered office-appropriate layering that won't leave fashion critics cold.

This petal-pink dress is classic ’60s with three-quarter length sleeves and a high neckline, but thanks to a speckled clutch and patterned collar, there is no mistaking what century we’re in. It’s modern and retro all at once.

Jackets, sweaters, and trousers are the things J. Crew does best. Here they pair a utilitarian parka with cream and black pants and a geometric coat with dove-grey separates.

Mixing horizontal and vertical stripes is a unique take on blending patterns. An extralong necklace completes this relaxed yet polished outfit.

Menswear can be so boring, but J. Crew wants us to know it doesn’t have to be that way. This handwriting sweatshirt looks awesome paired with a camel jacket and a bold red scarf.

Valentine’s Day will have come and gone by the time this red leather crop-top hits stores, but we know what we’ll be wearing come Feb 14th, 2015. Plus those pleated red trousers should be a wardrobe requirement.

We love this floral top and jeans look, especially with that oversized scarf trailing to mid-thigh.

Pajama pants normally belong in the bedroom and nowhere else, but this striped silk pair looks so good with an ombre cable knit sweater that we’ll make an exception just this once…
