Badgley Mischka RTW Fall 2014: Royal Opulence With No "Hard Edges"
The breathtaking figures at Tuesday's Badgley Mischka show were hard to pin down. Were they Russian princesses, clad in the most glamorous of Siberia-ready furs? Were they grown-up Disney princesses, with perfectly glossy, long hair and flawless golden manicures? Were they Gatsby-inspired princesses, drinking champagne in clingy black-and-gold?
The Badgley Mischka princess is something like an amalgamation of all three, with her Viennese-inspired gilt fabrics, her numerous furs, and her wardrobe that's all softness and opulence. She isn't interested in the corsets of queens past; as designer James Mischka described the collection to USAToday, "Everything moves to the body. There are not hard edges."
One thing is certain: the Badgley Mischka woman, no matter where her royal duties carry her, will look stunning this fall.
