Say Hello To The Newest Kardashian

by Nicole Pomarico

Up until this week, I kind of thought that their relationship was a really elaborate April Fools' Day joke, but there's no denying the reality of it now that Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian are officially engaged. The news broke on Tuesday, when the excited bride-to-be showed off her gigantic ring on Snapchat and sent everyone's heads spinning. OK, so they haven't been dating for that long — they first took their relationship public in January —but now, their relationship is just that more legit. And now that their future walk down the aisle is imminent, you probably have a few questions on your mind, and I know I definitely do. And besides wanting to know how Kardashian's sisters really feel about their union, this one is number one on my list: Will Blac Chyna take the Kardashian family name?

Fortunately, we don't have to wonder anymore, because that question has been answered. According to what the model turned beauty guru's rep told People, Chyna will change her last name to Kardashian after the wedding, and she's "ecstatic" to do so, to which I say a resounding "duh," because who wouldn't want to become a Kardashian? But after the wedding, she won't be known as Blac Chyna Kardashian, like you might assume, and not just because that name sounds a little ridiculous. Nope, her legal name change will be even more different, making her sound like a whole new woman.

Instead, Blac Chyna will become Angela Kardashian, which makes sense when you consider that her real name is actually Angela White. There's no word yet on whether or not that name change will apply to her professionally and not just personally, although I wouldn't be surprised if she kept Blac Chyna as a stage name since she's already pretty well established in her career. And when it comes to growing her eyelash empire, a little consistency can't hurt... even though on the other hand, you definitely can't ignore the weight that "Kardashian" carries, so either way she wins.

Obviously, Chyna, her BFF Amber Rose, and the Kardashian women have had their beef in the past, but I'm hoping everything works itself out before the big day arrives... especially since she's about to become family. As anyone who watches Keeping Up With The Kardashians as religiously as I do already knows, with Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney on your side, if you're in their fam, they have your back for life. I'd assume that would apply to Chyna, too, even if they may not have been crazy about her dating their brother at first. Maybe they'll be bridesmaids in the wedding along with Amber Rose? Probs not, but I can dream.
