13 Natural Beauty Products To Shop For Earth Day

by Lindsey Rose Black

You definitely don't have to sacrifice looking good by going green with your beauty routine. To prove this point, I've rounded up an epic slew of natural beauty products to shop in honor of Earth Day so you can get all your eco-friendly feels on. Yay, mama earth!

Going green with your cosmetics isn't only good for the planet, but also serves you. As shared on Huffington Post, "Since 1938, when Congress gave the Food and Drug Administration limited authority over beauty products, cosmetics has been a largely self-regulating industry. Beauty manufacturers are required to ensure the safety of their cosmetics before they go on sale, but the federal agency has never defined safety, according to an agency spokeswoman." Insane, right?

This means cosmetics companies can put practically anything in your products, and unfortunately, they do. The Green Guide explained how you want to be extra-mindful in avoiding toxic cosmetic ingredients such as phthalates, lead, mercury, petrolatum, diethalonamine (DEA), formaldehyde, and parabens. They've been linked to causing various ailments from skin irritation to liver cancer. Yowza.

With Earth Day coming up on April 22, what better way to show the planet and yourself some love by checking out these eco-friendly natural beauty products? Just don't forget to recycle your old makeup after!
