J.K. Rowling Reveals Her Second Favorite Character

Remember in the '90s when we all were thirsty as hell for Harry Potter tidbits from J.K. Rowling, but there was no Twitter to badger her on? #Bless this brave new world, because now we get new information from her on the daily — most recently that J.K. Rowling's second favorite character is Albus Dumbledore. This comes a mere few days after Albus Dumbledore got the sickest name drop of 2016 in the Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them trailer, and a mere few years after she collectively gutted all of our hearts by killing him off. Here's a fist bump from Rowling to Dumbledore through the fictional grave.

Of course, the question of who J.K. Rowling's favorite character is has not entirely been answered. The Twitter user who put J.K. Rowling on the spot implied that her favorite character is for sure Harry Potter, what with him being the namesake of the series and the hero that saves us all from mass Muggle slavery and halfblood genocide, but teeeeechnically she doesn't confirm it. (I mean, she did live in his brain for several decades, so I'd be concerned if he weren't.) Here's the Twitter exchange that took place yesterday that left no room up for interpretation on her second favorite:

She also took the time to explain why even the all-powerful Dumbledore couldn't spare our new fave rapscallion Newt Scamander from expulsion at Hogwarts.

In celebration of Dumbledore's official status as Second Favorite Character Of J.K. Rowling, here are a few of his most timeless quotes.

1. “It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be.”

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

2. “Age is foolish and forgetful when it underestimates youth.”

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

3. “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

4. “Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love.”

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

5. “Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
