James Franco To Be Roasted, Not Baked

by Kate Ward

For once, James Franco will not be baked, but roasted. Comedy Central has announced that the Oscar nominee and star of This Is The End will be the subject of the network's next Comedy Central Roast.

According to a press release, the roast will premiere on Sept. 2 after a taping in Los Angeles in August. "I've dreamed about this Roast for as long as I can remember," the actor said in the release. And Comedy Central is already up for the challenge: "If only James Franco was a more successful, multi-hyphenated, incessant creative risk taker in different media, he'd be the perfect person to roast. Oh well… I suppose we'll just have to make do,” said Comedy Central President of Content Development & Original Programming, Kent Alterman.

Here's hoping the televised event goes better than Franco's announcement of the Roast on Instagram video. Said the actor, before abruptly being cut off, "Hey y'all, what's up. I'm going to get roasted on Comedy Central. Be sure to check it out. They wanted me to tell you that. Alright. hahaha. Com—".

Seems Comedy Central's comedians will have more material than Franco has on his resume.
