Emilia Clarke's Point About Nudity On 'GoT's Fair
Like her steely onscreen character Daenerys Targaryen, Emilia Clarke isn't scared to speak her mind and, in short, say what needs to be said. (She's a badass, this much has been proven.) During an appearance on Conan Thursday night, Clarke commented that the inclusion of more male nudity on Game of Thrones was "a discussion that should be had." The Me Before You actress was on the talk show to promote Season 6 of Game of Thrones , and given the show's array of scenes featuring naked female characters, the topic came up.
Clarke doesn't believe the answer to the issue is to ban female nudity. No, instead, she believes in equal opportunity nudity — namely, that the men of Game of Thrones should get their kit off as often as the women do. Amen to that! Nudity is no problem, but if it's going to be included heavily in a show, it should be equal between the sexes. Clarke makes a great point.
This isn't the first time Clarke's proved herself to be the voice of the moment for onscreen gender equality. Her recent Glamour Magazine interview, her recent Entertainment Weekly interview and her interview with The Independent last year all prove that the Queen of Dragons isn't afraid to make waves on or off screen.

In her Glamour interview, she deftly fielded questions about Game of Thrones ' storyline with a mix of joking and earnestness. When asked how she'd handle writing some Game of Thrones fanfiction, though, that's where things get interesting: she answers she'd "bring back all the pretty boys, get them to take their trousers down, and be like, 'I'm now the queen of everything! I'd like close-ups of all the boys' penises, please.'"
Her Vision Of Female Strength Is Nuanced And Complex — That's What Makes It Interesting
She spoke to The Independent last year about her vision of female strength:
“The reason why the female characters are so incredibly powerful is that they’re able to harness the female and masculine sides within them. To acknowledge your sensitivity and at the same time move forward with strength is what makes women so powerful. For women not to be afraid of accepting themselves as women is really potent. Daenerys is a great example.”
In my opinion, there's few other women on TV as engaged and smart about gender issues as Clarke. Looking forward to seeing the return of the wonderful, terrifying Khaleesi to our screens in Game of Thrones Season 6 and — hopefully — way, way more male nudity.
