The Mad Hatter's Tea Is 'RHOD's Classiest Event

As the saying goes, "Everything is bigger in Texas" — and that seems to go for the personalities of The Real Housewives of Dallas, too. According to NBC, the newest cast of sassy ladies on Bravo's Real Housewives roster are women who won't let anyone mess with Texas, themselves, or their Southern traditions. The show will feature one in particular and you might be wondering what the Mad Hatter's Tea event is on The Real Housewives of Dallas ? According to the Women’s Council of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, the event is definitely real and, for the past 28 years, has helped raise money to benefit A Woman’s Garden at the Dallas Arboretum.

The Dallas Morning News called the event "one of the most joyous luncheons of the season" and NBC described it as one of the "most coveted events on the Dallas social calendar." And, true to the event name, the luncheon also has some mad hats — of the "everything is bigger in Texas" kind. So, among the stylish hats and elegant tea, what kind of mischief will the Real Housewives get into? According to NBC, there will indeed be some mad hat drama between Brandi and LeeAnne. Uh-oh.

Before that all goes down, here's what else you need to know about the Dallas Mad Hatter's Tea event.

The Theme

According to its website, the event's theme for 2016 is the movie Steel Magnolias. Past themes of the Mad Hatter's Tea have included "April in Paris" and "Serenade to Style," according to the event's Facebook fan page.

The Price Tag

Lunching in style with Dallas high society does not come cheap. The Women’s Council of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden website reports that tickets for the event start at $250, and that just gives you a luncheon and fashion show seat, according to the event website. If you want more, there are others of varying prices that include many other aspects of the event.

The top one you can get is the Sally Field — "The Magnolia" special for $50,000. The 2016 event website says that includes two tables of 10, reserved seating for 20 at the fashion show, limo to and from the event, two Steel Magnolias of your choice, and lunch with Arboretum president and CEO Mary Brinegar. What a steal.

The Hat Contest Categories

Don't mess with these Texan hats in eight categories. According to the event website, the categories include "Most True-To-Theme," "The Social Sorority," "What Was She Thinking?" and "Best of Show/People's Choice."

The Dallas Arboretum

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is 66 acres and located in East Dallas, according to the official website. Since 1986, the Women's Council of the Arboretum has supported the gardens, especially the A Woman's Garden, which has expanded twice since making its debut years ago.

Guests

More than 500 guests descend on the Mad Hatter's Tea event from nearby and from as far away as California, according to The Dallas Morning News.

The Event Programming

This event isn't just about hats. In addition to the amazing head wear, the Mad Hatter's Tea also features a fashion show, a champagne reception, and an al fresco luncheon, according to The Dallas Morning News.

So, basically, it's the event of the season and the RHOD ladies are definitely going to want to be in attendance.
