John Boyega’s Newest Role Is On Netflix

by Amy Mackelden

It's safe to say that John Boyega is winning at life right now. So far in 2016, the British actor has won BAFTA's Rising Star Award, and the excitement as Boyega reprises his role as Finn in Star Wars: Episode VIII never seems to die down. And, in amazing news for fans on Thursday, Boyega has been cast in Watership Down , a new adaptation of the Richard Adams novel that is sure to be even better for having him. Even though this is only a voiceover role and we won't get to see his beautiful face, it's a clear sign that the Star Wars actor is on the rise. The new version of the classic book Watership Down will be made in partnership between the BBC and Netflix, and the collaboration is further proof that John Boyega's post- Star Wars project is the perfect next step in his career.

At this point, a deal with Netflix is the gold standard. Boyega has been cast alongside acclaimed actors including James McAvoy, Ben Kingsley, Gemma Arterton, and Nicholas Hoult in Watership Down, giving further proof that he's finally being taken seriously as a bankable actor. Boyega's work to date speaks for itself, but working with Netflix shows real promise, and has me excited that the actor might secure his own Netflix series in the near future.

This isn't the Star Wars actor's first voiceover role, as Boyega recently provided the voice of a lead character in episodes of the animation series Tinkershrimp And Dutch. His next movie role is alongside Hollywood heavyweights including Tom Hanks and Emma Watson in The Circle, a movie about a mysterious tech company, due for release in 2016. The Brit is clearly in demand, and rightly so, as he's not only everyone's favorite up-an-coming actor, but a total hottie too.

Working with Netflix on this new project is an exciting move for John Boyega, and perhaps an indication that the streaming service would be interested in working with the actor again in the future. I personally can't think of anything better than a Netflix series starring Boyega, and, if his recent accolades and wholly positive reviews are to be believed, the actor has an incredibly bright future ahead of him.
