What's In A Starbucks Caramel Waffle Cone Frapp?

The coffee gods have smiled down upon us this day with their gift of a brand new Frappuccino to kick off the summer season. But what’s in the Starbucks Caramel Waffle Cone Frappuccino, you ask? In short — just about everything you could possible want from a summer drink. And given that that’s what I thought about the S’mores Frappuccino, that’s really saying something. Lightning really can strike twice, apparently — and by “lightning,” I mean “awesome frosty coffee goodness.”

Unlike the S’mores Frapp, the Caramel Waffle Cone Frappuccino has never before been seen — until now. It makes its debut today, May 3, and it will be available all summer long at a price of $4.25 to $4.95 for a 12-ounce Tall, depending on the market you’re in. I do have to say that I appreciate the inspiration for this particular beverage; I spent a good portion of my adult life in the Land Of Seaside Boardwalks (aka the Tri-State Area, famous both for Coney Island in Brooklyn and aaaaaaaaaall of the boardwalks scattered up and down the New Jersey coast), and boardwalk food is the best. (The history of boardwalks is also pretty fascinating, if you’re into that kind of thing — just sayin’.)

So what’s in a Starbacks Caramel Waffle Cone Frappuccino to make it so perfectly boardwalk-y? It’s a little more complicated than the three-key-element Birthday Cake Frappuccino, so let’s go step by step through each one:

1. Coffee

According to a Starbucks spokesperson, a 12-ounce Tall Caramel Waffle Cone Frapp contains 55 mg of caffeine. Caffeine means coffee. You do the math.

2. Milk

The standard recipe is whole milk, but you can swap it out for whatever kind of milk you like. (Within reason, that is — if Starbucks doesn’t offer your pick, you’re out of luck. However, there are so many options to choose from, you’re sure to find something that floats your proverbial boat.)

3. Waffle Cone Flavored Syrup

I’ll be honest: I’m not totally sure what “waffle cone flavor” is. But whatever it is, it’s been distilled into a syrup, which, in turn, is one of the key elements of the Caramel Waffle Cone Frappuccino.

4. Dark Caramel Sauce

Aaaand there’s the other key element of the Caramel Waffle Cone Frappuccino — you can’t have a CWC Frapp without the first C, after all. This ingredient goes both in the Frapp and on top of it, too, for a double dose of caramel-y sweetness.

As an aside, the mighty ‘Bux has certainly been big on caramel recently, haven’t it? The Smoked Butterscotch Latte and the Caramelized Honey Latte also both feature some sort of caramel sauce. Not that that’s a bad thing; au contraire. It’s delicious.

5. Whipped Cream

I mean, sure, you could order it without the whipped cream… but you’d be missing out.

6. Waffle Cone Pieces

Because nothing says “Waffle Cone Frapp” like actual waffle cone pieces scattered lovingly across the aforementioned cloud of whipped cream.

Heck. And yes. Grab yours at your nearest participating Starbucks anytime between now and the end of the summer. By all means, grab multiple Frapps. Why the heck not? It’s summer, after all!
