It's Impossible To Not Love His Opening Monologue

by Ivy Jacobson

I don't care if you say that you don't like Jimmy Fallon. But you cannot say that Jimmy Fallon isn't the sweetest, most humble guy in the business. Because he is. Jimmy Fallon's opening monologue on The Tonight Show had fans in a frenzy for weeks before, wondering how he was going to open his first night hosting the The Tonight Show . However, Fallon didn't bring out the big guns/surprises — namely, Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan, Sarah Jessica Parker, Joan Rivers, Mariah Carey, Robert De Niro, and many more — until later on.

To start, Fallon relied on what never fails — thanking people who helped him get to where he is today. He began by saying, "I’m Jimmy Fallon, and I’ll be your host — for now." He humbly thanked past hosts before him in order, slipping in a little joke: "Steve Allen, Jack Paar, Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien, and Jay Leno."

Then, Fallon shifted to totally raw and vulnerable humility, drawing attention to his parents in the audience and thanking them for all they've done for him. “I hope you’re proud of me," he says. Aaaaand with that, I think I have something in my eye.
